Fluid Communications receives grant from Facebook to share Covid-19 and community news
What we're doing...
Over the last several months, most businesses have had to adapt to uncertain times. We at Fluid Communications have also.
We've gone back to our journalism roots by providing information to our community regarding the impact of Covid-19. In April, we applied for a Community Journalism grant from Facebook. We were awarded the grant in May -- the only organization in Indiana to receive one. They recognized our vision and the need. In June, we were up and running.
We've been reaching out to a population that was the most vulnerable to the virus with information and news. We also realized that technology access has not always available to this population; where most news was being shared. So, we went "old school" and created news updates that people can access by phone.
And now, because of our dedication to the community, we have also been selected to be a part of the Google News Initiative Startups Lab Boot Camp.
We love what we've been able to do and we will continue to work for our community.
Fluid Communications was established in 2014 by Karen Williams.
With over 25 years of experience, Karen Williams specializes public relations, integrated marketing communications and project management. For the past 12 years, she managed the communications and advertising for four campuses of a regional state community college.
She has worked for government, not-for-profit organizations, education and health care. Her work has included media and communications strategy; media communications; managing print and community engagement.
A graduate of Indiana University with a B.A. degree in journalism and an M.S.J. in advertising from Northwestern University, she has taught advertising, public relations, marketing and business communications on the community college and university level.
Karen loves all things communication and has a sincere desire to help clients realize their goals and objectives – efficiently.
